FAQ - Laser Pigmentation Removal

Frequently Asked Questions:

Does the treatment hurt?
There may be some mild discomfort during treatment, but it should not hurt. There can also be some slight redness and minimal swelling after treatment.

Are the results permanent?
It will reduce the appearance of the brown spots – avoiding sun exposure, using a good mineral sunscreen and wearing a hat, will all reduce the risk of the brown spots recurring. The cells in the discoloured area have been permanently damaged and will always have a tendency to turn the skin brown in those areas. A good routine of protection from the sun at all times will result in the spots reoccurring more slowly if at all.

Will one treatment be enough for me?
Your treatment plan will depend on various factors such as the location, depth, size and type of pigmentation. Some pigmentation will require several treatments for optimal results, where some can be resolved in a single treatment. On average, patients will need 2-3 sessions for complete removal. Further treatments can be scheduled for four weeks after your treatment as required.

How often should I come for treatment?
Your technician will advise you on the best interval between treatments for the most effective results – sessions are usually around 4 weeks apart but can be more or less as advised.

When will I see results?
Most patients will see some results from just one treatment, which can show around 4 weeks after the session. Usually, at around 8 weeks after treatment, you will see the full result.

Can any type of pigmentation be treated?
We can safely treat any benign hyperpigmentation, including freckles, sun spots, and age spots. A consultation is required prior to treatment to ensure that you are a good candidate. Clients with raised pigmentation or a history of skin cancer are not candidates for pigmentation removal. Any area of the body can be treated safely and effectively, the most commonly treated areas include the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands.

Is there any downtime?
Some patients may experience some redness, slight swelling and possibly, but rarely, some bruising or blistering. Any of these should resolve in a very short time, and you will be given an aftercare sheet at the time of your treatment.

How do I optimize my results?
It is strongly recommended that you avoid sun exposure, use a good mineral sunscreen at all times, and wear a hat during summer months to reduce the likelihood of pigment reoccurring. Your aftercare sheet will also have this information, and you can contact us with any questions or concerns at reception@flawlessclinic.ca

How much does it cost?
Pricing starts from $50 but will depend on a number of factors, like the size of the area to be treated, etc. A firm price for treatment will be given at your consultation.
